Heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding in the port city of Douala. The Governor of the department of Littoral speaks of some 900 families made homeless by the floods. In the research project INTEWAR, measures for such crisis situations are being developed in order to reduce the spread of water-associated diseases such as cholera, for example, by ensuring the supply of drinking water during and after floods.
